Maoi之丘公園 / Maoi-no Oka Park

Maoi之丘公園（位於長沼町）是位於國道274號線上的道路休息站。位置是在距離札幌開車約1小時的地方，以從札幌開車到帶廣市方向的休息場所而著名。那裡有販賣從長沼町收獲的農作物的直送商店和使用在地食材的餐廳。外帶餐點也很受歡迎。屋頂上的展望台開放時期為4月到11月（只有白天開放）。

Maoi-no Oka Park (Naganuma Town) is a road station on Route 274, which connects Sapporo and Obihiro in Tokachi District. It is about one hour from the center of Sapporo by car; so this could be a good place to take your first rest when driving to Tokachi from Sapporo. This is also a popular destination for one-day trips from Sapporo as there are shops which sell fresh farm products and a restaurant which offers dishes made using local vegetables, meat and dairy products. Their take-out food is popular also. The observation deck is open from April to November (daytime only).

奏樂之森咖啡店 / Sora-no Mori Cafe

奏樂之森咖啡店（位於釧路市）是位於阿寒湖溫泉街的咖啡店。使用從距離阿寒湖約20分鐘車程的丹羽牧場的牛乳製作的甜甜圈很受歡迎。2樓有免費入場的藝廊，展示著阿寒湖周邊的自然或是動植物相關的攝影作品。隨時都會舉行展覽，但展出主題會定期更替。

Sora-no Mori Cafe (Kushiro City) is located in the town of Akanko Onsen (Lake Akan Hot Springs). The donuts at this cafe are very popular. They are made using fresh milk produced in Niwa Bokujo, a dairy farm which is a 20 minute drive from the cafe. On the second floor there is a gallery that anyone can enter for free. Photos of the forest, animals and plants in nature taken in the Akan area, and other artwork are exhibited in this gallery. They hold an exhibition most of the time and the exhibition is changed regularly.

This cafe closes in winter (from November to March)

愛鳥公園 / Aichou Park

愛鳥公園（天売島）是位於島的北部丘陵的小小的公園。因為可以瞭望到周圍的海洋，又被稱作愛鳥展望台。那裡有附屋頂可以休息的地方，可以在那裡攤開便當等輕食或飲料悠閒地的度過。（但是那裡沒有設置垃圾桶，務必遵守垃圾帶回家的規則。）那裡也設置有廁所。

Aichou Park (Teuri Island) is a small park on a hill in the northern part of the island. As people can take in a panoramic view from there, it is also called Aichou Observation Deck. Aichou means love for birds in English, and Teuri Island is known as mecca for seeing seabirds. Benches to take a rest are provided. As the place has a roof, people can stay out of the rain. Also, it is a pleasant place to have meals, snacks or drinks on a sunny day. (There is no garbage box. Visitors should take their garbage away with them.) There are also toilet facilities.

赤岩展望台 / Akaiwa Observation Deck

赤岩展望台（天売島）位於島的最西端的位置。展望台設置在如同突出到海洋般的位置，可以嘹望整個廣闊的海洋。附近有島的象徵-赤岩，赤岩如同蠟燭般聳立在海洋上，高度為48公尺。從展望台可以往下俯瞰到整個赤岩的下方。展望台周遭的地面有角嘴海雀的巢穴，在那裏有無數個直徑約20公分的洞穴。

Akaiwa Observation Deck (Teuri Island) is located on the westernmost point of the island. The platform from where visitors can take in a vista reaching to the horizon is built facing the ocean. It's like a cantilever deck. The panoramic view from here is magnificent. Akaiwa, which is the symbol of the island, is 48 meters high and it stands like a candle set in the surface of the sea. Visitors can look down at Akaiwa from the observation deck. There is a multitude of holes on the ground around the observation deck. These holes contain the nests of rhinoceros auklets. The diameter of each hole is about 20 cm.

觀音岬展望台 / Cape Kannon Observation Deck

觀音岬展望台（位於天売島）位於斷崖絕壁上，可以看到海岸線和海邊絕景。那裡有個大愛心形狀的凹痕的斷崖。這個凹痕形成的原因是因為山崖的走山現象造成的，因此要觀賞到愛心型的凹痕得在山壁上長出雜草前的夏天前來訪。此外，那裡也是黑尾鷗的繁殖地，展望台附近也常常有黑尾鷗在那盤旋。另外，5月以後原生花卉就會開始開花。

Cape Kannon Observation Deck (Teuri Island) is located on the top of a steep cliff. From here visitors can view both rocky coastlines and the sea reaching to the horizon. This place is called Kannonzaki Tenboudai in Japanese. Thanks to a landslide on the steep surface, a big heart-shaped surface was formed. In mid summer, it is covered with green plants but it's still easy to see. This area is well known as the breeding place of the black-tailed gull. When people visit this place, they can see a lot of seabirds including black-tailed gulls. Starting in May, beautiful wild flowers bloom around the observation deck.

天売島 / Teuri Island

天売島（位於羽幌町）是一個環島道路一周約十公里的小島，以「海鳥之島」而著名。在西側的斷崖上有瀕臨絕種的崖海鴉棲息著。在觀光旺季的春季到夏季，這裡可以看到約一百萬隻角嘴海雀、黑尾鷗、扁嘴海雀等海鳥。在海膽祭典時許多觀光客會來訪於此而非常熱鬧。

Teuri Island (Haboro Town) is a small island called the Island of Seabirds. There is a road about 10 kilometers in length which runs around the coast (the whole length of the coast is 12 kilometers.) Four hours is long enough to complete the return journey on foot. On the steep cliff on the western side of the island, about a dozen common murres, which are endangered, make nests. Between spring to summer, many tourists visit there as it is the seabirds' breeding season. More than one million seabirds, such as rhinoceros auklets, black-tailed gulls and ancient murrelets are seen there. The uni (sea urchin) festival is another highlight.

4月上旬的札幌 / In the beginning of April in Sapporo

4月上旬的札幌，市區的街道雪開始融化，已經可以感受到春天來臨了。一天之中最高的氣溫約5～10度左右。雖然也有體感溫度很低風很強日子，但另一方面待在在無風的太陽底下會覺得很溫暖。在山區積雪開始溶解，道路上的積雪幾乎不見了。然而，要行駛於山區隘口的車子仍需要冬用輪胎。在日本4月上旬是舉行學校入學典禮的季節。

At the beginning of April, the snow in the Sapporo City metropolitan area starts to melt away, and people feel glad that spring has come at last. The highest temperature on a typical day ranges between 5 degrees and 10 degrees. It can be windy sometimes, and people feel cold. On the other hand, out in the sun on a still day, people can feel warm. In the mountain areas, snow is melting gradually, though there is almost no snow on the roads thanks to snow removal work. When cars drive through mountain passes, they still need snow tires. In Japan, this is the time when entrance ceremonies of schools are held.
