純種馬道路新冠 / Thoroughbred Road Niikappu

純種馬道路新冠（位於新冠町）是行駛於太平洋沿岸的國道235號線上的道路休息站。因為附近是賽馬的著名產地，因此販賣著許多由馬而得名的周邊商品。有36公尺高的高塔，可以享受360度的展望風景。隔壁是唱片的博物館（需付費參觀）。收藏著從全國募集而來約90萬張唱片。

Thoroughbred Road Niikappu (Niikappu Town) is a road station on route 235 which runs along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Niikappu is famous for the raising and training of thoroughbred race horses at its many farms. As a nod to this background, the shop at the road station sells a variety of horse-motif goods as souvenirs or home decorations. There is a 36-meter high tower, and from the observation deck at the top, visitors can see the 360 degree panoramic view. Next to the road station, there is a record (music disc)-themed museum, which is not free admission. They have 900,000 records in their collection.

優駿紀念館 / Yushun Kinenkan

優駿紀念館（位於新冠町）是賽馬公司-株式會社優駿所營運的免費博物館。這裡展示著日本賽馬界傳說的存在-Ogiri Cap的相關物品。Ogiri Cap是活躍於1987年～1990年的賽馬，至今仍有許多粉絲。這裡也設立了等比例大的青銅雕像。是可以了解到日本賽馬文化的設施。也有土產店和咖啡廳。

Yushun Kinenkan (Niikappu Town) is an free horse museum managed by Yushun Company, a horse trading company. This museum mainly features a variety of paraphernalia related to the legendary racehorse, Oguri Cap. Oguri Cap was active from 1987 to 1990, but is still an icon of horse-racing, with career earnings of 912,512,000 yen, after being bought for a steal. Not only enthusiastic punters, but also ordinary people started to visit racetracks for the excitement of seeing him. A bronze statue of Oguri Cap graces the museum. Visitors can also find out about horse-racing culture in Japan. Visitors can enjoy the café and shop too.

賽馬培育產地 / Breeding of racehorses

北海道是有名的賽馬培育產地。其中又以日高地區的新冠町周邊聚集許多培育賽馬的牧場。從沿著太平洋行駛的國道235號線朝向山間地區約8公里的道路被稱作「純血寶馬銀座」。從國道的入口處的山丘上有停車場公園，可以瞭望整個牧場地區。也有牧場可以受理入內參觀，是夏季推薦的兜風地區。

Hokkaido is famous in Japan for its breeding of racehorses, and the Hidaka district is recognized as a mecca of thoroughbred horse ranches. There are a lot of ranches, especially around and in Niikappu Town. The road from route 235 running along the Pacific Ocean to the hills is called Thoroughbred Ginza - ginza stands for mecca in English. At the beginning of this road, there is a small park on a hill, which allows visitors to take in the panoramic views of pasture land. Some ranches permit visitors and looking at horses. It’s a lovely spot for a drive in summer.

三石海濱公園 / Mitsuishi Beachfront Park

三石海濱公園（位於新日高町）是面向太平洋的公園，可以在沙灘上遊玩、海水浴以及烤肉活動。因為設有防波堤所以浪潮也很平穩。寬廣的腹地內除了有「道路休息站Mitsuishi 」之外，也有販賣特產品以及烤肉用的煤炭和相關道具的「特產物中心」。除了有提供住宿的溫泉旅館之外，露營場也有小木屋。

Mitsuishi Beachfront Park (Shinhidaka Town) faces the Pacific Ocean and houses a variety of leisure facilities. People can enjoy playing on the sandy beach, swimming in the sea, or having a BBQ. As there is an infrastructure of wave-dissipating concrete blocks, the sea at this beach is calm and relatively safe. The park is large, and features shops. Among these is a road station called Mitsuishi,which sells light meals and snacks for day trippers,while the store next door sells local products and BBQ supplies, such as coals and fresh seafood and vegetables. An onsen hotel, and small rental cottages at the camping site are available for accommodation.

日勝隘口 / Nisshou Pass

日勝隘口是位在日高町和清水町界線的隘口。夏天多霧，冬天降雪，一旦路面結冰行駛的道路狀況就會變得很危險，但它是連結札幌所在地的道央地區和帶廣、釧路所在地的道東地區的道路要衝。2016年8月30日因颱風來襲，造成日勝隘口路面崩塌、橋樑中斷。以2017年秋季搶修完成為目標目前還在施工中。因此作為替代道路的高速公路從占冠到音更帶廣這一區間是不收過路費的。

Nisshou Pass is between Hidaka Town and Shimizu Town, and is the border between them. As driving conditions are difficult due to dense fog in summer, and snow and ice on the road in winter, drivers have to be careful. This pass is important for transportation, connecting the Douou area (including Sapporo), and the Doutou area (including Obihiro and Kushiro). On August 30, 2016, a big typhoon hit, with landslides, road damage and bridge collapses occurring. As of December, 2016, construction work is still being undertaken, and will be finished in autumn 2017. During the construction, the paid express way between Shimukappu and Otofuke Obihiro is free.

純種賽馬大壁畫 / A mural of thoroughbred Horses

純種賽馬大壁畫（位於新冠町）是位在橫貫新冠町的主要道路-國道235號沿線的山壁上。1877年時，在新冠町設立了御料牧場，開始培育農耕馬。至今新冠町以賽馬的產地而聞名於全日本。1990年時，以向開車前來的遊客們傳達歡迎光臨的心情為目的，便繪製了寬30m、長40m的大壁畫。

A mural of thoroughbred Horses (Niikappu Town) is drawn on the wall of a cliff along Route 235, which is a main road running through the town. In 1877, an imperial pasture was established in the town, after which the large scale breeding of horses for agricultural cultivation and conveyance started. After that, many private stables started thoroughbred breeding and this became an important industry. Niikappu Town is now famous for this throughout Japan. In 1990, a big mural was commissioned to welcome those who come to the town by car. It is 30 meters in height and 40 meters across.
