Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park (Sapporo City Chuo-ku) is next to Hokkaido Shrine. There is a statue of Michitoshi Iwamura, who is credited for great achievements in Hokkaido's development when the land of Hokkaido was first established. He was appointed as the first governor in Hokkaido in 1886. Although this park isn't far from the center of the city, it is quiet and teeming with nature. Wild squirrels live there, and they are used to encountering people. Visitors might be able to see running squirrels. This park is one of the most famous spots for cherry blossom viewing in spring.
