IWANAI / Iwanai

Iwanai (Iwanai Town) is a road station near the port. They sell the town's specialties and Tara Maru, which is Iwanai’s mascot, goods. Tara refers to cod fish and Maru was a popular name for boys in ancient times. In front of this road station, there is Marine Park, which has playground facilities for kids. Also, Kida Kinjiro Museum, which is a paid museum and is recognized as one of biggest museums in Shiribeshi District, is in the park. Many pictures, such as oil paintings focusing on Iwanai landscapes, are exhibited. Tara Maru Market selling fresh seafood and processed food, is not far.
