We compile information on “0 yen tourist spots” and “must-see paid spots with extra benefits” and then keep them in our blog as archives for your convenience. We also introduce the food of Hokkaido and interesting souvenirs to take home.
The White-tailed Eagle is a migratory bird, which comes to Hokkaido in winter. They prefer to live in coastal areas, rivers and wetlands. Some make nests and lay their eggs in the eastern or northern parts of Hokkaido. The size of white-tailed eagle is a little smaller than Steller's Sea Eagle which is the biggest raptor in Japan. The young white-tailed eagle doesn’t have the specific feature of the white tails, instead, it’s just brown. They only develop them as adults. This is one of the popular birds for bird watching enthusiasts. Photo from Wikipedia
