Takeo Arishima's Residence was moved from its original location near Hokkaido University to Sapporo Art Park in 1985. Takeo Arishima is one of the notable novelists of Japanese modern literature, who was active in the early 20th century. He was born in Tokyo, but lived in Sapporo for a long time. Also, most scenes in his novels are based in Sapporo. The color of the residence wall is bright red and it seems to match the atmosphere of Sapporo Art Park. Visitors can see previous first edition books, why he came to Hokkaido, and other examples what he did. Entrance is free of charge.
