Hiraoka Park (Sapporo City Kiyota-ku) is famous for ume blossoms. Ume translates to Japanese apricot in English. Both white and vivid pink flowers of the ume tree bloom at the same time in this park, typically in May every year. In the season, ume flavored food, such as soft ice cream and noodles, appear on menus at the shops in the park. Aeon, one of the bigger super market chains in Japan, is located near this park.
