Arte Piazza Bibai

Arte Piazza Bibai (Bibai City) is an open-space sculpture park housed on the property of a former elementary school. Bibai used to prosper as a famous coalmining town, but it declined with the changing times. Kan Yasuda - a well-known sculptor born in Bibai, Bibai City, and sympathetic citizens teamed up to reuse the space as somewhere people could enrich their minds. The park opened in 1992. More than 40 of Kan’s sculptures are exhibited in the building of the former school and the grounds. Each visitor can make what they will of the sculptures there. Admission is free, but a donation is appreciated for maintenance of the park.
