Jozankei Hot Springs Keiryu Koinobori (Sapporo City Minami-ku) is an event in which hundreds of koinobori are hung over Toyohira River, which runs through the hot spring town. Koinobori are made of cloth and they depict carp. Carp are recognized as strong fish in Japan. Koinobori is a Japanese traditional event devoted to the good health of children. It is held on May 5 which is Children's Day, a public holiday, in Japan. In Jozankei, this is one of the attractions in spring, and it is held from the middle of April to the first week of May every year.
