Bokke

名字的由來是由阿伊努語的Pohuke(煮沸的意思)。

Bokke (Kushiro City) is a sightseeing spot located on a walking path on the shore of Lake Akan. It’s a mud pond, with the temperature of its mud steady at around 100 degrees. The bubbles of the carbonic acid gas come from underground, and are produced by volcanic activity. When the bubbles burst, a sound like “pop” is heard, because the mud is sticky. The word “Bokke” is derived from the Ainu language’s “pofuke”, which stands for boiling in English. In winter, this mud pond contrasts with its surrounds, because only it doesn’t have any snow. Visitors can admire the power of the Earth through geothermal energy.
