Kaitaku Kinen Park (Kuriyama Town) is on Route 234 in the Kakuta Area of the town, with the name literally meaning Memorial Park of Reclamation for Agriculture. Mr. Rintaro Izumi, called the Father of Reclamation in the town, started his work here in 1888. In the park, there are art objects themed on the reclamation and cultivation of the town. There are two museums near this park – the Reclamation Memorial Hall and Izumi Memorial Hall. They charge a small admission fee (100 yen). That's why we don't include them in the Hokkaido Travel Tips project which features admission free interesting spots.
