札幌雪祭有大通公園、薄野(SUSUKINO)、TSUDOME等3個會場，在這些會場內展示著許多雪像和冰雕。小型的雪像（2×2×2公尺）是由市民所製作的（只有經過抽選的市民團體才可製作雪像）。雪像的主題多是著名的角色或反應當年的時事居多。關於大雪像的製作，除了專門的團體以外，日本自衛隊也有參與大雪像的製作。在雪祭期間也會演出各種精彩節目。
Sapporo Snow Festival is held over three sites: Odori Park, Susukino, and Tsudome. You can see a lot of snow and ice sculptures. Small snow sculptures (2 x 2 x 2 meters) are made by residents of Sapporo. There are many applicants for the chance to make a snow sculpture, but only those who win the ballot can participate. Each sculpture has its own motif, and popular characters and the current social conditions are often represented. Large sculptures are made by special groups of residents, and Japan’s Self‐Defense Forces. During the snow festival, different shows such as ski-jumping and music performances are also held.
