白糸瀑布 / Shiraito Waterfall

白糸瀑布（位於定山溪溫泉區）的水流是用於定山溪水力發電廠的水力發電上。這個水力發電廠是北海道目前有在運作的水力發電廠中最古老的。它於1909年完工，2008年時由日本的土木學會認定為土木遺產。夏天時瀑布的水流聲令人感到很清涼。秋天時則可以觀賞有紅葉景致的瀑布。

Shiraito Waterfall (Jozankei Hot Springs) is created by the runoff from Jozankei Hydro-electric Power Plant. This power plant is the oldest of all the present functional hydro-electric power plants in Hokkaido. It was completed in 1909 and it achieved industrial heritage status in 2008; with the Japan Society of Civil Engineers making the designation. In summer, the sound of water falling makes people feel cool and refreshed in the hot, humid weather. In autumn, visitors can see a beautiful contrast of the colored leaves of the trees and white of the water. It isn’t far from the main onsen hotels.
