The Edwin Dun Memorial Museum

The Edwin Dun Memorial Museum (Sapporo City Minami-ku) is housed in the former office of Hokkaido Development Commission’s stock farm. This office building was built in 1880 at a different place in Makomanai, and it was moved to the current location in 1964 because it wasn’t in service at that time and was about to be demolished. Edwin Dun, who came from America, greatly contributed to the livestock industry in Hokkaido. He taught dairy farming, dairy and meat processing, and the use of large-scale agricultural tools. His achievements and experiences regarding hardships are shown in both text and pictures inside this museum.
