綿羊 / Sheep

綿羊是象徵北海道的動物之一。在19世紀的北海道開拓時代，被稱作「北海道的畜產之父」的美國人愛得維·丹帶來了180頭的綿羊。之後，綿羊在北海道的文化及產業起了很大的貢獻。一時之間牧羊產業曾經衰退，近幾年再次受到矚目。也有免費可以參觀綿羊的地方。

Sheep are a symbolic animal in Hokkaido. In the 19th century, when Hokkaido was opened up, Edwin Dun brought 180 sheep from his home country of America. He was one of the specialists hired by the Japanese government to bring technology and knowledge, and is regarded as the father of livestock in Hokkaido. Sheep became very important for food and fabric, and contributed to the development of Hokkaido. Later, the sheep industry fell in intensity, but it has gradually recovered in recent years. Tourists can meet sheep in Hokkaido, and at some places, it is free of charge.
