鴛鴦 / Mandarin Duck

鴛鴦是主要分佈在日本、朝鮮半島和中國的野鴨的渡鳥同伴。公鳥擁有豔麗的羽毛。在北海道於春天到秋天可以看得到。在札幌市中心區的大通公園、北海道大學和中島公園也可以觀察到鴛鴦。常常可以一起看到鴛鴦的公鳥和母鳥。日語當中也有形容感情好的夫婦用「鴛鴦夫婦」來比喻。

The Mandarin Duck is migratory bird which is seen across East Asia, in such places as Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. The female has simple brown feathers, while the male is adorned with a colorful coat. In Hokkaido, they can be seen between spring and autumn. In Sapporo, they are even sighted in central areas like Odori Park, Hokkaido University and Nakajima Park. It’s quite common to see a pair co-existing, like in marriage. In Japanese, there is a word meaning well-suited husband and wife. It’s Oshidori Fuufu. Oshidori means Mandarin Duck and fuufu means married couple. In winter, they migrate to Honshu island.
