Maple Kaido 393

Maple Kaido 393 is the nickname of Route 393 which connects Otaru City and Kutchan Town via Akaigawa Village. Kaido stands for road in English. The total length of this road is about 60 kilometers, with a lot of maple trees lining it. As the color of the leaves turns from green into yellow, orange and red in autumn, the scenery is magnificent. At some places on the road, there are signs indicating that one is on Route 393, and these are in the silhouette of a maple leaf, like the national flag of Canada. Driving this road is very enjoyable in autumn.
