Strange-shaped rocks

Some strange-shaped rocks along the lower western coast of Hokkaido have names, derived from each of their peculiar shapes. When driving on the road running along the coast, which is also known as the Oiwake Soran Line, people can see some famous rocks. In English, they are Shishi Iwa - Lion Rock, Mado Iwa - Window Rock, Sanbonsugi Iwa - Three Japanese Cedar Trees Rock, Tanuki Iwa - Raccoon Dog Rock, Manmosu Iwa - Mammoth Rock, Oyakoguma Iwa - Parent and Child Bears Rocks, and Unseki - Cloud Stone. Oiwake Soran Line runs through a number of towns but the majority of the strange-shaped rocks are seen in Setana Town. Wave erosion created the unique rocks.
