Makomanai Takino Cemetery

Makomanai Takino Cemetery (Sapporo City Minami-ku) opened in 1981, intended to also serve as a park where people could gather. As outlined in a previous article, Hill of the Buddha, this cemetery is also a tourist spot, with other unique features. Imitations of Moai statues, numbering more than 20, are located in a line at the cemetery entrance. They are almost to scale replicas of those on Easter Island. Furthermore, a to scale replica of Stonehenge can be seen near the Hill of the Buddha. At the cafe, visitors can buy souvenirs of the Buddha statue designed by Tadao Ando.
