Sanbon-sugi Iwa

Sanbon-sugi Iwa (Setana Town) consists of three rocks like columns which stand independently in the sea. Each is about 30 meters tall. Sanbon stands for three and Iwa means rock. Sugi is the Japanese cedar, and one of these grows directly skywards. At the top of the rock, young pine trees and some green plants can be seen. The landscape, with the backdrop of the blue sea, the waves’ white crests, or at sunset when the rocks look black gives us an unmistakable feeling it’s special. In summer time especially, when they are illuminated at night, the lights make fantastic romantic mood.
