Minatomare Suttsu (Suttsu Town) is a road station located next to Suttsu Fishery Port. Visitors can see the fishermen’s boats in front of the building. Access by car is easy, with Route 229 running not far from this road station. Route 229 is usually called Oiwake Soran Line (Oiwake stands for a folk song of Hokkaido sung by herring fishermen). The area around Suttsu along the Sea of Japan flourished through catching herring in days gone by. At the shop, there are a variety of seafood products caught or farmed in Suttsu. Many products use Suttsu's specialty, the Hokke (Atka mackerel.)
